Just revert the arguments for the coalesce and that will take care of it.Alex Nuijtenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06345615264010120428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1271763227002553835.post-77273617627679031122016-03-20T10:57:08.555+01:002016-03-20T10:57:08.555+01:00Lots of constraints missing, Alex, on your create-...Lots of constraints missing, Alex, on your create-table...
;-)Toon Koppelaarshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08153913435188725112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1271763227002553835.post-87772530139189774032016-03-18T20:17:54.876+01:002016-03-18T20:17:54.876+01:00When I saw the title I was expecting an article on...When I saw the title I was expecting an article on bi-temporal tables where the two temporal periods shared the same start date but had separate end dates. When I got into the code I saw you were actually creating a mono-temporal table, but with the end date being a function of two (or more) columns.

With the way you defined your virtual column it looks like your system generated end date always takes precedence overriding any manual end dates, whereas I expected it to be the other way around where the manual end date would override the system generated date. .

The example presented does open up some interesting options, such as using the greatest or least and not just the coalescence of a series of dates for either the start or end of the period of temporal validity.

Thanks for the interesting read.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01424330081057714005noreply@blogger.com
